Leave Bad Enough Alone

Oh, great. My local newspaper has finally realized that George Lucas is working on milking the rubes for another Star Wars TV series.

LOS ANGELES — The Force may soon be coming to a television near you. George Lucas is planning a live-action television series spinoff of the Star Wars film franchise.

Godddamn, George, just let it die. You’ve already done enough to destroy the fond memories of my youth, when you made GOOD movies….a delusion that ended abruptly in the middle of Episode VI.

Lucas, 63, already has another television series in the works. Lucasfilm Animation has been working for months on the computer-animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Wait, he’s got two coming? Crap, there’s a reason I watch mindless animé. Some of it’s as stupid as anything Hollywood puts out, but at least it’s got panties, and girls that don’t look like they could substitute for beanpoles.

  1. Lucas has pretty much killed Star Wars for me. It’s a shame, because I think the very first film was a whole lot of fun and nicely efficient storytelling. Without it, some really good science fiction films probably would never have been made.

But he’s got his hands around its throat and he’s just throttling the life out of it. I can’t stand those horrible “Special Editions.” (“Special” as in “The Star Wars Holiday Special.”) The saddest thing is, those and the prequel trilogy just scream, “I am SO just as creative as I was thirty years ago! You’re just jealous!”

    Milk it baby, uh-huh, uh-huh!
