Dear Russian Spammers….

I like this new tactic you’ve had going on for a couple of weeks — actually discussing my posts in understandable English. Your comments have occasionally been perceptive and interesting. However much I’ve enjoyed them, though, they’ll continue to end up in the bit-bucket, even without the links to sites I’m not stupid enough to click through to. Bluntly, any IP from Eurasia (with the exception of those located in areas unfriendly to spammers, crackers, and scammers) will be trashed. If you want to participate in the community, clean up your home first. And your posts.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

It would have to be the most well written bot in history — enough to pass the Turing test at first glance. But I do think it was one, as I’d see a couple of paragraphs submitted within three or four minutes of each other on different posts. They’d actually make relevant comments on the characters, but there’d always be one word badly misspelled — and it would be a link to some site that was a nonsense string of letters. Then there’d be the one that was a copy of my own post, with the same type of link.

As for the first type, if they’re that good at programming, why can’t they get a real job? (Rhetorical question.)

Pretty much describes me, except that relevant thing your were mentioning.
