Sekirei, ep. 12 quick notes

Ok, I’ve watched it myself. Arodouc is wrong; it’s not introducing new characters at the end; all of those have been shown before, most in that episode.* The problem is, there’s something like five different factions and groups being followed, and it’s hard to follow all the players without a scorecard. I’m still not to clear on who the three “lords” (for lack of a better term) are, though I know we see at least one, maybe two. I had originally thought that these were sub-bosses of the lunatic running MBI, but they’re rivals who also control multiple Sekirei (including a “failed” one).

So we have five groups to follow: the three lords, Minato and his four (or maybe five; it looks like the lush (Uzume) is about to make a play for him at the end), Minato’s sister and her boy Sekirei, whatshisname with the twins, and MBI itself. I’m not sure where the Disciplinary Squad comes into this; technically they work for MBI, but they seem to have their own agenda (at least the Black, Karasuba, does). Then there’s Yume, the destiny Sekirei. What was up with all that?

They definitely want to continue the series; whether or not the break is really to let the manga get further ahead, or if they just couldn’t find sponsors for the 2nd half yet, I don’t know.

As harem shows go, this one had a lot more plot than most, but with over 100 Sekirei and their ashikabi to potentially follow, it’s really hard keeping up with them all, so that kind of ruins any appreciation of the plot.

Edit: Pete reminds me I didn’t link Arodouc

*Actually, after looking at the picture he linked, maybe he’s right. We’ve seen the guys, but who are the two (presumably) Sekirei? We might have seen the orange hair chasing someone earlier….

As I Feared

I was shocked to discover last week that Sekirei was only a 12 episode series. Given that they used 5 episodes to introduce the 4 girls, I didn’t see any way that they could resolve the Sekirei War in less than 24-26 episodes. Sadly, the manga hasn’t gotten far enough, so rather than create an ending, Arodouc says the animators decided to leave it open ended; the war will go on. The current arc, which felt more like a mere subplot. had to suffice for the “ending”, and the remainder of the war itself remains to be fought in future series. Pity it was so lame; this is the first harem series I’ve seen in ages to have an actual plot.

Maybe I should go kill a few brain cells by watching Hakufu (NSFW).

Ike’s a Comin’

I’m going to be rather busy for a bit. My hurricane thoughts and such will appear at Houblog.

Kanokon, Uncensored

And I thought the parts they broadcast on TV were racy beyond the far edge of ecchi. This... this isn’t ecchi, it’s hentai! Warning! Links are VERY NSFW!!!

(We now have an answer to Steven’s question about how much steam they would remove for the DVD. Answer: all of it, and add some more scenes to boot.)

Since I don’t have the DVD’s any pics I post would be ripped off of Sankaku… so just head over there. If you dare.

Update 9/8: they did remove the steam from the scene in the bathing room, although they almost forgot to add nipples to Chizuru.

Extended Vacation

Well, if my connection cooperates…

Took some time off and went to Dallas over Labor Day. Back home, but taking an extended break from blogging while I chill. May make the occasional comment here and there about the blogsphere, but don’t expect major posts for another week or so.

The vacation really wasn’t long enough.

Ya Gotta Be Kidding Me!

How much trouble is Gonzo in? (aside from possibly being delisted on the Tokyo Stock Exchange?)

Would you believe this much? I don’t think I do. In fact, I can’t even verify that it’s for real, and not just some stupid poster someone drew. There’s no announcement anywhere, so I’m thinking it’s just another rumor. Supposedly, some such posters were actually drawn up around the time of the original Vandread series, and this may be one of them.

If it is real, no idea if it’s based on “Extra Stage“, which was an additional 7th novel (really, short story collection) tacked on at the end of the novelizations.

Wow…400 (and one)

The space post was my 400th since I started Bridgebunnies. Four hundred? Good grief. What the hell have I been talking about?

Let’s see… I have 215 posts in Random Nonsense, but I’d bet a significant number of them should be moved; it’s the default and I sometimes forget to set the category. (But for this post, it’s appropriate).

Next closest is a distant second: Fansubs (Non-Review), at 45, followed closely by Snap Reviews (43) and Series Reviews (42). Then it’s into the 30’s with Fansub Reivews (36), Anime Industry (33), Bitching (32), and Episode Reviews (30). On to the 20’s: DVD Review (26), Administrative (24), Upcoming releases (21)…

(Has Strike Witches 9 finished downloading YET? Crap, I’m already into the teens!)

…Life, etc. (15), Fandom (14), Cheesecake (13) — wait, that can’t be right! — Technology (12) …

(56% done and I’m in single digits. Grrrrrr!)

‘Commerce,’ and ‘Tropes and Such’ tie at eight each. Three more tie at 7, but two are subcategories of Anime; only Gaming is it’s own category. Some how, ‘All Reviews’ has six, which shouldn’t be possible; all the other reviews should add up to it. Four posts about webcomics, two about The Real World. and two about Manga.

Strangely, I have a category with zero: OVA/Movie reviews. Weird.

(77% downloaded. I think I’ll go count dust bunnies under the bed or something….)

Edit: Numbers may have changed compared to what you see at the right. I went back and reviewed tags for everything in August.
