Very Little Time

For anime or blogging. Dropped Kurokami; I’ve gotten tired of watching Kuro get the crap kicked out of her. Sure she wins most of the time, but it’s abuse porn until then. Love the ED though, it’s definitely in my playlist right now.

Still watching Druaga. Broke down and downloaded Nanoha. Sigh, on my obligation list now. It really kicked ass around episodes 6-7, but it slowed down badly just before the final battle, and then I found the “wrap-up” episode to be syrupy and tedious. Might have just been my mood. I’ll wait until I’m able and buy the rest though, it was good enough for that.

I rewatched the episodes of Negima!? I originally downloaded and compared it to the final arc of the original Negima! series. I can see why the second got the kudos it did, but I still have some problems with it. I think it’s partly the opening of the first episode (which looks far more serious and dramatic than the series is) misleading me, and partly the obvious anachronisms and irregularities in the storyline. Too many points where logic got thrown to the winds, and I hate that. We’re supposed to believe Negi’s in fear of being turned into an animal if he screws up and lets the secret of magic out, when a pair of misshapen animals are walking around talking to students? We’re not supposed to notice Chamo playing cards with the girls when the only one that knows he’s special is Asuna? Come on.

Also following Munto. It’s not bad, but the storytelling just isn’t grabbing me, and the characters aren’t pulling me in either. They’re filling in backstory now, which is helping, but not enough. My favorite character so far is one of the relatively minor ones; leader of the battle forces of a small nation that switched sides in the war. Nothing really fazes her and she’s obviously pretty badass, plus has a sense of honor.

Probably going to watch Battle Valkyries in the new season, just to torture Dr. Heinous. He showed me the game last time I was up there; it looked and played pretty good. I kibbitzed his playing for a while — “Maybe if you get a sniper up on the building? You’ve got too many lancers on your team.” It was pretty obvious that you had to put some thought into picking your team members for each mission. No idea if the animé is going to be any good though. And yes, I’ll probably watch that silly show with the girl carrying the cream jug. What the hell, I enjoyed Sekirei. Even went back and rewatched the last episode. It was still hilarious watching Yume fighting while holding one hand over her ponderous breasts. (she’d ah, lost everything but her apparently titanium panties earlier in the fight). Have to wonder if that was animated differently for the DVD release? Quite possible considering episode #8.

Dr. H is rambling about firing up his blog and starting to talk about animé he’s watching. (Neo-Ranga; I loaned it to him on his last trip down here.) I think I know what show he owes us all a paragraph or two on. 🙂

Loli-Pervs Ahoy

So I decided to download the first couple of episodes of MG Lyrical Nanoha, just to see what all the hullaballoo was about, and if I should consider ordering it.

First thought: “Perfect family. Meh, well I’ve seen worse, but it does kind of remove one source of tension.”

Second thought: “Urk! Third-grade panties? Maybe they weren’t kidding about it being ecchi…wait, wasn’t the transformation deck supposed to be really ecch– ”

Third thought: “……..” “YIKES!!!!!!! Holy loli-on-a-stick, Batman! What the hell were those perverts thinking when they drew this???”

Jeez, I feel like I should scrub my hard drive before the feds come smash my door down…

That’s a Good Thing Too, Right?

And Steven turns my last post on its head: Anime figures are getting more like Playmates…

Hm. Did I really need that close-up of bunny Haruhi’s ass crack?

Eh, Oops

If you got an article in your RSS feed and thought “what’s this on Meganekko?” well, obviously I got a little confused and logged into the wrong blog. I had a Dita moment. In commemoration, here’s some cheesecake of a different redhead. Mildly NSFW, so below the fold.

Snap Thoughts, Semi-Hiatus?

Akikan: dropped. Mediocre animation, stupid premise, stupider plot, stupid characters, you get the picture.

KuroKami: Where did the great martial arts animation go? Entering ep. 4, it looks like a stupid and unnecessary fight is about to happen. There are obviously plots within plots going on, but my major problem is Kuro. She’s a ditz, until anything relevant to her purpose is the subject, then she’s serious. The whipsawing just doesn’t work for me. Also, she hasn’t really explained much about what the Contract between her and Keita means or why she did it. Keita got involved in her fights of his own accord, but it was strictly because he’s a guy who doesn’t like seeing a girl get the crap beaten out of her. He didn’t want to get involved in a secret war, and given her link to the deaths around him, he sure as hell doesn’t want to be around Kuro. Unfortunately, since she chose to save him through the Contract, her fighting abilities are seriously degraded because of his dislike. Kuro needs to fill Keita in on what she is, and how he’s affected by the Contract. During the meal would have been a good time, but they wasted hours and did nothing.

Druaga: Still holding up. The occasionally-sly sense of humor is still there, surprisingly. “Eleven minutes until avalanche.” Heh. It’s not high art, but it’s working. We now know more about why the king is acting strangely; most importantly we know what the stakes are. They’re not “suceed or die.” They’re “suceed and die.” Oops.

Asu no Yoichi: Woo! Episode 3 found the fanservice! It’s otherwise not worth mentioning, I’m just fast-forwarding through it. I might be so kind as to add framegrabs, or you could go here. (They’re kind of tame, though, and I note some screams of disappointment in comparison to the manga…) Yes, I am an episode behind, since I have to wait on fansubs.

Chrome Shelled Reigos: It was one episode and out. Good decision; it appears the random flashbacks continued. I think the first episode had three, all interwoven with the current timeframe.

Might be going back on hiatus; at the very least posting is going to remain slow.

Too F’ing Awesome for Description

Ok, I’m catching up on all my favorite links, and ran across this at Brickmuppet’s place The Pond. So I’m late (edit: and stupid)… bad me. Very cool my ass, this is taking me past fanboyism to outright gushing. This is just too awesome for words; utterly delightful. And I happened to need a dose of delightful at that moment, which made it even better.

DO. NOT. MISS. THIS. YOUTUBE.

Especially if you;re a classic rock and animé fan. Ah hell, why make you work for it… link below the fold.
