I got the links fixed in two posts tonight, but it’s late, late, early AM, and I’m knocking off here. In the meantime, enjoy this pic from Godannar.

bisexual/bi-curious SWF, SHF, or SJF mecha pilot or magical girl. D/DF, non-smoker, social drinker. Blue or green hair a plus. Must be ecchi-tolerant and look good in school or meido uniform; bonus points if you own a yukata, your own mech, or a spaceship. No religious preference, but vampires and worshippers of ancient evils or tentacled demons need not apply. No lolis, emotionless girls, or sword-women. Androids or aliens acceptable if “mechanically compatible.” Send picture with response.
I imagine those few who have wandered over this way (and my regulars) are getting tired of non-animé posting on an animé blog, but I’m still deep into setup mode here. Good progress today; I got all the screencap directories set up, and all the pictures uploaded from the original site. I even managed to get the pictures re-linked in one of the posts, and do some minor editing in three to clear up the occasional awkward sentence. Getting most of the rest of the pictures re-linked actually isn’t going to be that difficult, and should take me only another week or so. It would probably go quicker, but I’ll be playing Magic again this weekend. It’s the release of Time Spiral!
Unfortunately, that’s the good news. The bad news is that moving the comments just may not happen. There are over 500 comments on Houblog to sort among, and I am not good enough at sql to write a query that will extract only the anime ones, or even the comments for a single post. Then there’s the slight matter of editing the reference fields of each one to match the re-numbered posts. (Remind me again, just why did I do that?) Finally, I’m not sure what would happen if the comment_count (or whatever its name is) field in the Post table didn’t match the number of comments linked to any particular record in Post. The WP software might get buggy, cats and dogs start living together, the sun rise in the west, or Congress start employing lolis as pages. (If it’s psycho Shion, and I get to pick the congressperson she works for, I could agree to that….)
Let me ask you a question: If you were a webcomic author — a successful one, at that — how long would you put up with someone in your forums who:
Now let’s go for the kicker….
Never mind how fast you’d hit them with a perma-ban….How long would you let this person be a moderator on your forums?
Seriously, that’s some patience with a person.
Update: The sad thing is this guy’s actually got a point about the quality of the art, though I’ve seen webcomics that do far, far worse. It’s just that his attitude gets in the way of his message, and then he becomes the issue. But enough of that….
Fred’s been on a roll lately. The setup: this young lady (Kimiko Nanasawa) wronged her proto-boyfriend (Piro) badly last night, and then quit her job just a few minutes ago, when the manager went spastic on her. I wager she did not want to hear what her (female and more stacked) roomie says in the last frame.
The fanservice starts in the next strip: to explain, the taller girl (Erika) has been convinced by her boyfriend (Piro’s roommate) that you MUST be naked to work on a computer or the static will destroy the parts. He’s not available right now, and she’s putting one together for the first time….
But those two are just the setup — watching Kimiko work through the logic chain is the payoff!
Steven Den Beste notes that he had some problems logging into Mahou. I’m not sure what’s up, as I transferred everyone’s registration directly from Houblog. DrHeinous had no problem logging in right away, and my WP logon worked as well, with no changes or other entries needed. But for his, and his alone, I had to change the mailing address, since it still had his old one at Roadrunner. Maybe that had something to do with it? Anyway, if anyone else experiences problems logging in and the retrieve password feature doesn’t work, drop me a line at ubu@bridgebunnies.com.
Edit: and I can’t control the auto numbering so that it will continue from the lower, renumbered post values, even though I’ve changed every field to the new values. It insists on picking up where I left off with Houblog. Oh well. There will just be a weird gap.
Well, since this site seems to be making the rounds, why not?
I’ll never look at Hello Kitty the same way again….
