Missing Options…

So I was just making a reservation at a hotel, when I noticed that the form’s “name prefix” (or salutation, if you prefer) element included more than the usual “Mr.” “Mrs.” “Miss” “Ms.” and “Dr.” In fact, they included “Herr Doktor” and “Lord.”

. . . . .

I was tempted. I was sooooooooooooo tempted. Especially since it was a hotel in a small town, that to be be blunt, is a bit podunk-ville.

But dammit, they were missing “King” and “Archbishop,” not to mention “Pope.” And don’t even get me started on “Holy Roman Emperor” not being on the list! How could they make that mistake? So I just said to hell with it and picked “Adv.” Per this, I think it means I’m claiming to be a member of Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Vermessungsverwaltungen der Länder der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.

I suppose I’d be more convincing if I could at least pronounce that.

    Nope. A funeral. Finally. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

For what? Pffft. The “Grrr” is frustration over how long it’s taken. Besides, most people don’t crack jokes at times like this. I have strange defense mechanisms.

I did ask a supervisor during a particularly frustrating meeting yesterday, if I started smashing my face into a sharp axe, did she think it would make the pain (from the meeting) stop? I only phrased it that way because I knew she’d not understand if I suggested “doing a Shion from Higurashi.”

Although that would have involved nails into the source of the problem, and I didn’t want to sound threatening to the managers either.

Wait, this is a podunk town in a swampy backwater state… and they have Herr Doktor and Lord?

Suspicious. Perhaps I should retrieve the Stainless Steel Brat and investigate/join/take over? I’ll let you know if I run into Bruce Campbell…
